Thanks for the notes. I guess I'm still wondering on a technical level how hard it is to make their products. Ciena's problem wasn't just that they had too few customers, it's that their technology was too easy for NT and LU to duplicate themselves. UNPH has some technical expertise that it would be hard/expensive for any of the big network/telecom equipment companies to duplicate.

I'm wondering if HLIT enjoys any such technical/competitive advantage.

For example, if Lucent were to introduce competing products, I would not be surprised to see T/TCI purchase from LU instead of HLIT. It looks like this is what happened to CIEN. I'm afraid the same could happen to HLIT. If I were confident that there is some technical expertise that goes into HLIT products that Lucent lacks and would be expensive to duplicate, then I would be very interested.
