S-8 means only one thing...

Glenn, this may not be news to you or others, but an S-8 means only one thing: Shares are being registered for quick sale. Holders of preferred or restricted securities have no neeed to register shares other than to sell them.

Its logical: Why register the shares and hold on to them? You would uneccsarily increase the shares outstanding, which would be interpreted negatively, resulting in a stock price decline of stocks you do not intend to sell. No, you register becasue you want to sell and quickly .

Now, in my experience, this is usually just a short term hit to a stock as all the new paper hits the market. It will hit the market today . Junglee holders will probably get some large lot specialist to spread the (3 million? 6 million?) shares around painlessly, maybe do some Vinik style manipulations to get a price boost. But there is no doubt that the float will inrease dramatically today, and there will be more shares to short.
