The consumer confidence in the U.S is still pretty strong though it is down from its peak according to the Conference Board.It still stands at a fairly healthy 127 (from 133 the previous month),it gets closer to 100 or below then I'll worry.

As for Canada, if your economy contracted for 2 consecutive quarters that fits the classical definition of a 'recession',doesn't matter what the Finance Minister says.Since Canada's economy is natural resources based and the commodity prices around the world are at their lowest levels in a decade or two I am afraid Canadian economy might be in a tough spot until the prices of commodities goes up again.I also hear your Central bankers weren't helping any either notwithstanding the recent cut in interest rates.
