The markets are very concerned about what might take place over the weekend. Brazilian national elections, future hedge fund debacles [where there's one, more may follow]. Next week the formal impeachment legislation of President Clinton will go forward in the House of Representatives as well. If the stock market climbs a wall of worry as some claim, that wall appears to have gotten quite a bit steeper as of late.

The market has some early concerns about the coming Christmas holiday shopping season. It's worrying that perhaps the consumer will pull in his/her shopping horns. Whether or not those concerns are valid, only time will tell. AMES should still do OK, but it may just take a little longer than we all had planned, but at ~6.5X this year's earnings, and an ~0.15 price to sales ratio we should be resting easy.

When the great bull run was on these past few years, the world looked to the market for direction. It now appears that the market is looking to the world for it's direction. Such are the shifts in investing attitudes.
