When the market bottomed in October 1990, the S&L crisis ($600 BILLION, thats 200 LTCM's!) was at it's height, there was a severe credit crunch, Citicorp was at $15, Iraq was occupying Kuwait, oil was soaring, consumer soending stopped in its tracks...and a recession started in 1991.
