Whipsaw, I disagree with your use of the ERP sector or PSFT as a bellwether for hardware. The entire ERP sector has been killed lately, but growth is still very healthy by anyone's standards. Certainly well in excess of anticipated growth for the computer sector. My guess is that there are concerns for decreased growth (but healthy growth nevertheless) centering around combination of y2k budgetary shifts and a decision to slowdown these very expensive and lengthy software conversions (multiyear contracts) because of softening business prospects in general.

I find that your comment is peculiar because just last week Dell upped its estimates for industry growth to 17%.
