He was pointing his finger in our faces (yours and mine) and said now listen (which we did) he used every thing he had to be as convincing as he could be so that we'd trust him completely.

Ah! The famous "he lied to the American people" argument, eh? Well, guess what? The American people didn't think he was lying to them! He was responding to a bunch of nosy reporters who had no better business than to poke their noses in the pubic hairs of other people.

That is personal, not his own business. He was using our support and trust in him to pull it off.

Again, from the American people's perspective : Yes, it is personal, and none of the business... of the reporters! And he was using whatever he could to shake them off his back.
