Netscape more profitable than Yahoo

fnews.yahoo.com

>>Can the underachieving Netscape (Nasdaq:NSCP - news) be more profitable than everyone's favorite Net company, Yahoo! (Nasdaq:YHOO - news) ? It's all in the numbers.

Yahoo may have the most traffic on the Net: It reported 115 million average daily page views at the end of its June quarter. But Netscape's portal site, Netcenter, which was reported to have about 22 million average daily page views at the end of its most recent quarter, generated more revenue per page view.

Yahoo's 115 million average daily views translated into $41.2 million in revenue. Meanwhile, Netscape's 22 million average daily views generated just $2.5 million less than Yahoo, or $38.7 million. Look closer: Each Yahoo page view brought in 36 cents, while Netscape views generated about $1.73 apiece in revenue.<<
