Pauleron,

AMD's K7 is a stroke of genius.

When it comes out it will be on the Alpha bus and there will no board chip set issues as these will have been debugged by Alpha. The Xeon disaster that Intel is having is unlikely to occur.

As you know the bus speed will 200 Mhz, approx 2X Intels current best. Intel is talking about 133 for next year but no 200 Mhz that I know of.

In addition the CPU will be 500Mhz at least and we know that AMD is promising substantially higher performance per clock than with K6-2.
With the higher clock speed, bus speeds and architecture improvements a performance improvement of 30-50% in SPEC numbers is anticipated by me. Wait till 2 weeks and we will know more.

Intel is architecturally bankrupt as the Xeon, PII and Celeron A devices use the same PII core. They plan on selling KNI extensions in 1999 for hundreds of dollars more than PII solutions and we will see how the market reacts when AMD starts selling higher performance CPU's than Intel much CHEAPER than Intel.

You have been pissing and moaning about how AMD's lossess will keep going higher as they ship more CPU's. Let's see on tuesday if their lossess have increased or decreased substantially.

Right now AMD's dogged persistence has cost you approx $80/share in Intel stock value. In an few quarters as AMD ramps up 0.18 with Dresden and Cu with Motorola and new kick ass architectures they will be the performance leader PERIOD.

As the Intel spokesperson on this thread par excellence I reccomend that you sell everything you own and buy more Intel. My prediction is Intel at close to book within 9 months as they lose 40-50% market share to AMD their costs will rocket as their wafer fabs run at 50-60% capacity.

Have a great weekend.
