I am not technically educated re medical terms but understand that a stent is a 'sleeve' as it were, which is sometimes inserted in a heart artery when angioplasty is performed.

Angioplasty is the procedure of entering an artery & ballooning it out to open it up. Sometimes the artery will stay out but sometimes it is necessary to insert a sleeve(stent) to ensure the artery stays well opened.

Traditional sleeves are metallic & I believe that one that does not leave metal in contact with the artery wall, would be quite advantageous over the traditional type, providing no other problems arise.

If someone can correct or add to this, please do so. I am no authority on such.
