I agree that Tripp is a sleaze. I don't agree that Starr is; I believe he is the only obviously ethical person in this whole mess. I don't see the "sting", but I'm not going to argue your point.
I respect you and your opinion a lot, buddy.
I don't think Starr put anything about Whitewater (or anything else) into his Lewinsky report because he has an unfinished investigation.
I'm not calling the majority of the American people morons because they are supporting the president. Nothing wrong with that. I'm calling them morons because they have said, according to one poll I saw, that Congress is not handling the investigation properly, which shows they don't understand the process, and because it is apparent that Clinton lied to a Grand Jury (not to mention the public). That's a felony. The argument that "all politicians are felons" etc. won't wash with me. There are lots of Congressmen and Senators that are clean, I'd bet money on it.
Anyway, if one is dirty, (and I've been dirty) all one has to do is get clean. Admit the wrongdoing, take full responsibility for the crimes, and get straight. It's a small minority that have to be actually arrested or stand in front of a judge before they get the concept that they need to get straight.
Doesn't matter what he lied about. The only time I've seen criminals rabidly defended is when the defender is dirty too. The only time I've seen people accused of crimes get evasive and pissed off is when they have additional undiscovered crimes.
Bottom line: I believe Clinton is a felon that backed himself into a corner. I think the only reason he has admitted doing something wrong is because there was some physical evidence he couldn't make disappear. I am fully convinced that he has committed dozens of crimes that have not been discovered. I'll probably never know. It is my belief that a felon with undiscovered crimes is dangerous, and not capable of being a good president.
Colin Powell and Norman Schwartzkopf have saluted this man. That's sad.
I'd really, really like to hear Clinton's side of the story before I make my final judgement. I think Slick is real dirty. If you are right, and he's clean, I'll buy you dinner and apologize personally. |
