The opposite now looks like the case, and his numbers have gone up.

But we don't govern ourselves by polls. We are not a true democracy. We have a representative republic. Sure, we can and should give our Congressmen and women our input, and they want to know what we think. But as for decisions on right and wrong, clearly we expect our Congressmen and women to vote their core beliefs, whatever those are, and not vote the whim of a fickle and uninformed public.
