Some of my first posts on SI was about this similarity. In Aug 1996.

Not claiming any priority! I know lots of people have said the two charts were similar much further back. But I was inclined not to believe them.

There are those similarities back then but the tops are even more distinctively similar.

I'm surprised that several bears on this thread seem to have gone bullish so I was restating this scenario.

The financial media here today are stronger than ever in expecting a big correction (40% cited in one column for NY) soon and advising investors to wait and see before commiting their money.
