Activision CEO:Recent Deals To Boost Confidence In Earnings Dow Jones Newswires -- September 28, 1998 NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Activision Inc.'s (ATVI) recent deals with the likes of Walt Disney Co.(DIS), Lucas Group and Viacom Inc.'s (VIA, VIAB) Paramount Pictures will help boost investor confidence in the predictability of its quarterly earnings, according to Activision Chief Executive Bobby Kotick. "Properties like 'Star Trek,' 'Star Wars,' some of the Disney standard characters, classic characters all have a lot of predicability, and I think that you can actually alleviate a lot of the quarterly volatility by getting ahead of the curve with these kinds of properties," Kotick said in an interview with CNBC Monday. Kotick said Activision's recent licensing agreements will allow it to "essentially control all of the big entertainment properties for video games." The executive said the company's stagnant stock price has been a "source of frustration." He said Activision wanted to buy back its shares in an effort to go private, but a number of pooling transactions conducted last year have prevented the interactive entertainment software publisher from doing so.
