Muffy scanned the room from left to right, investigating every nook and cranny, trying to learn the secrets stored therein.
The baby grand piano against the far wall was a beautiful mahogany masterpiece. The music shelf next to it was filled with sheet music from several eras. A guitar and set of drums in the corner made Muffy wonder how many members were in Kinky's band. "I wonder if they need a trumpet player?", wondered Muffy. "I could finally make use of those lessons I had to endure at the orphanage."
She noticed the tail fins of a '57 Chevy protruding from the West wall, right next to the vintage juke box. Muffy wondered why anyone would destroy a '57 Chevy just to get the effect of living in the 50's. The juke box collection of 45's was quite impressive. Chubby Checker, The Rolling Stones, John Denver ... everything but Country Western music was represented. "Well, that leaves out line dancing as a recreational activity. What else will we do to occupy our time?", thought Muffy.
Curiosity got the best of her. "So, you like music, Mr. Friedman?", she asked, politely. Before he had a chance to answer, she followed up with the question that was really bugging her. "How did you get a name like 'Kinky', anyway?"
Kinky smiled broadly. He turned quickly and almost sprinted over to the fireplace. "I'm glad you asked," replied Kinky. He pressed a button underneath the heavy wood mantel. It activated some embedded machinery (Muffy worried briefly whether it was Y2K compliant) that caused the fireplace to rotate 90 degrees on its axis, revealing a hidden passageway.
Muffy raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Wow, this guy is quite a character! I think we're going to enjoy this adventure."
Kinky motioned for Muffy to enter his secret hideaway. Muffy bounced through the entry like a little kid on a playground, grinning widely, expecting to find wild and wonderful times ahead.
After they were both in the passageway, Kinky pressed another button. The passageway lights came on, and the fireplace rotated back to its original position.
"Well, there, sweetie ... what will it be?", asked Kinky, as he pointed to 3 doors, each with a sign indicating what was behind it.
