CRUS got slammed recently - the dangers of the PC world and old line technology.

CRUS did get slammed, but the root problem was that they got stuck with more fab capacity than they needed in their two joint ventures when wafers were available for cheap from the foundries. Then, in order to fill the fabs, they turned to low-margin business, but the real problem was getting into fabs they didn't need. Cirrus' primary mixed-signal business is still sound, but its results got dragged down by all the low-margin crap they took on or kept on as fab filler. I hope LSI plans Gresham carefully enough so they don't have to try to fill it with low-margin products. Having your own fab has its upsides, but it also has its downsides.

Regards,
G.P.
