I played YHOO once (a few months back) and I basically broke even. However, if one is patient for at least a month one can realize a decent short term gain; especially if one gets in at this well-supported level.

As far as comparing the services of Yahoo with the likes of Excite, it depends on your needs. If you're looking for a powerful search on a specific item with well presented results, I personally like Excite. If you're looking for overall fun in searching for general topics and interests, I like Yahoo (and Excite). Both of these companies will do well in the future, IMHO. As for others, I haven't really used them much so I won't comment. But I did try AltaVista for a while and was not impressed with the presentation of their results. They boast one of the most powerful search engines but their presentations seem random and therefore is a pain in the butt to make sense of the results.

In hindsight, as far as stocks go, I wish I could've gotten into XCIT before it made a HUGE percentage gain on the news of their alliance with AOL. As for YHOO, I believe this has good short term upside potential.

My humble $.02

P.S. For the record, I do not have a position in this stock, but I am watching it.
