Just the same old, no surprises, sales increase:
Direct Focus, Inc. Sales Increase 149 Percent in Third Quarter for a Record $15.2 Million, U.S.; Canadian -- $23.0 Million
VANCOUVER, WASHINGTON--Direct Focus, Inc., a direct marketing company, said today that sales for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, 1998 hit a record $15.2 million ($23 million Canadian) compared to $6.1 million ($8.4 million Canadian) in the same period a year ago.
Sales results for the 1998 nine months ended Sept. 30, 1998 rose to $38.5 million ($57.8 million Canadian), more than 200 percent higher than a year ago comparable nine months of $12.6 million ($17.5 million Canadian).
Brian Cook president and chief executive officer of Direct Focus, attributed the continuing upward trend in sales to consumer response to the company's direct marketing efforts for its Bow Flex home fitness equipment.
"Sales in the quarter were related to our Bowflex line of home fitness equipment," said Cook. "We began test marketing our second major product -- a line of technologically advanced sleep systems -- on Aug. 24."
The company expects to report full results for the third quarter on Oct. 26, 1998.
