Eric,

One of the reasons I'm sticking with my CSCO shares (COMS
is still by far the major portion of my portfolio), is
that CSCO, IMO, will whip LUs butt when the time comes.

As Steve Porter posted a few posts back, CSCO is getting
slowly chipped away by the COMS type equipment that is
lower priced and probably more the way of the future.
I'm speaking mainly the switch routers.

But, I still see CSCO as moving up into the telecom
equipment space and dominating there for at least a good
while, until COMS produces related products. But the
main point is CSCO will have their own gigantic niche
for a while provided they beat out LU and NT. I think
they can do this because they are coming from the IP
side and LU has to much invested in legacy systems with
it's former telecom customers.

Also, CSCO still has the flexibility to change technology
in the "core". COMS flexibility in the edge will be a powerful
force IMO, but CSCO is not a network dinasour as some have
concluded. I just think that CSCO and COMS will stay
out of each others spaces for a while still, so there
is still not a big need for either to fear the other.
Maybe in 2-3 years from now.
