success of barra is predicated upon continuing bull market and increasing legions of traders and analysts buying its software. there are now some doubts about this. also, i've seen the barr rosenberg funds turning in some horrible performances as of late -- may slightly tarnish the company's credibility (these funds are not officially associated with barra, but are of course run using the same principles of barr rosenberg). software stocks and small caps haven't been doing well lately, and this one falls in both categories. i've been holding it for ages, but i think buying now would be a pretty big gamble on a smallcap recovery.
