I've just had a thought. What if Greenspan and Co. reduce rates again, but this time simply to help out LTCM? Afterall they are long in Junk bonds and short Treasuries and could potentially still disappear with the $3.5 billion that those nice people at Merrill et al so kindly helped them out with. If the unwinding of LTC's postions still poses a major threat to the world economies then Greenspan may feel the need to move things in a direction that favors their positions. I'm only half joking. BTW, I reckon 15 months is plenty of time to get stinking rich, especially with options.
