It would have been better (and more responsible) if Reuters noted that this language has appeared in all Quarterly Statements for the past two years. In this market, people are looking for bad news to report and that is what the reporter seized on. This is not news. All oil companies routinely include language to the effect of "if we drill a lot of wells and don't hit oil, the company can go down the drain..." Pharmaceutical companies say "if the drugs don't work, or they start killing people, or our patents are invalidated, we're in deep, deep trouble". This is NEVER reported as news, because it is not (is this rocket science?). It is becoming standard in the software industry to say something like "If Microsoft starts giving away a similar product to put us out of business, they may succeed..." This is to keep the class-action lawyers at bay. IT IS NOT NEWS!!!
