J.R. Simplot, the largest shareholder in Micron, made his money selling potatoes to a little company called McDonald's. He is apparently quite a character. (I've never met him.) One of several JR stories going around the company has it that Micron was an early adopter of rapid thermal processing (RTP) because JR decided that since fast cooking was good for potatoes, it had to be good for semi chips, too.
