The behavior may be difficult to understand, but it does not seem difficult to characterize. Maybe Rob S. or someone more versed in TA can pin it down exactly for us.

Key points today for the NZMA/DJIA tag team were 1:20 low, 2:50 volume push, and 3:50 high. (times appox.)

For the past few weeks, NZMA has tracked the DJIA in lockstep with a bias to the upside. Today NZMA held up almost as well as the DJIA, but not quite. It is amazing that there is almost no noise in this behavior, as if there were no discrete decision makers following any other influences than the DJIA.

YHOO earnings could cause the two to decouple from the DJIA, but I am guessing that the DJIA effect will be borne out as the stronger one. Any rallies there will have a miraculous uplifting effect, which will be attributed to the latest puff piece in the news. And, conversely, a DJIA breakdown will probably mean the latest short squeeze party is over. Then those brown chips will be more easily distinguished from the blue ones! JMHO
