Corel recalls infected CDs
..... A limited number of customers have purchased CDs infected by the D strain of the AutoStart worm, which Corel said is not detected by many popular virus-checking utilities. The company said 95 percent of the affected software has already been located in warehouses and recalled.
"We've done everything we could to pull the offending stock off the shelves throughout the channel," said John Geleynse, Mac product manager at Corel.
He said the worm affected only the second manufacturing run. "We've been able to get almost all of the affected boxes because the first wave hadn't sold through yet," Geleynse said. The incident has been a significant cost to the company, he said, but CorelDraw 8.0 for Mac OS continues to sell well.
