CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Glenayre Technologies Inc.
(NASDAQ:GEMS) today announced that Amir Zoufonoun has been named general
manager of the Glenayre Western Multiplex operating division, effective Oct.
1, 1998. Zoufonoun has been serving as acting general manager of the unit
since May 1998.
Previously, Zoufonoun served as vice president of engineering at Glenayre
Western Multiplex. Zoufonoun joined Western Multiplex Corporation in 1989,
serving in management positions of increasing responsibility through
Glenayre's purchase of that company in 1995. Prior to joining Western
Multiplex, Zoufonoun held various engineering management positions with Harris
Corporation's Farinon division. He holds a master of science degree and
bachelor of science degree, both in electrical engineering.
Among his many contributions, Zoufonoun spearheaded and led the
development of Glenayre Western Multiplex's major product lines, including the
successful LYNX radio line.
Glenayre Western Multiplex, an industry leader in T1/E1 spread spectrum
wireless interconnect radios, has been providing high-performance licensed and
unlicensed digital microwave radios to the worldwide market for over 18 years.
