Ari --- you may be surprised to hear that some of the regression models I do of the US market show that an upturn is possible. Because that seems to be such an unpopular view, at the moment, I keep quiet about it. Unlike Ms Cohen, I don't have to make a living from fortune-telling, so I can.

A similar situation happened with the gold price in 1996. My models showed a significant down looming but everyone on the group (it was at Kitco, those days) was so optimistic for gold and poo poohed any bearish comment, that I shut up. I needn't tell you that the models were correct and "popular" opinion was not.
