TORONTO, Oct. 6 /CNW/ - Dr. Christopher M.H. Jennings, President and the
Board of SouthernEra Resources Limited (SUF-TSE), are pleased to announce the
appointment, effective immediately, of Mr. Patrick C. Evans as a director of
the company.
Mr. Evans is a partner with Geneva Consulting Group, an international
business consulting firm based in Washington, DC. Prior to that, he was a
senior career diplomat in South Africa's Foreign Service. His last assignment
was as South Africa's Consul General to Canada. He also served in Washington,
Ottawa and Chicago, and has held a number of senior positions within the South
African government. Mr. Evans holds degrees in both International and
Constitutional law, and in Metallurgy. During 1994, Mr. Evans was recalled to
South Africa where he acted as spokesperson for both the South African
National Inauguration Committee and for President-elect Mandela during the
transition period prior to the assumption of power by the New African National
Congress.
Dr. Chris Jennings and the Board of SouthernEra Resources Limited
(SUF-TSE) are also pleased to announce the following changes in senior
management positions in the Company with immediate effect.
Mr. A. Lee Barker, currently Vice-President will become Senior Vice
President.
Mr. Kim Freeman, currently Chief Mining Engineer, will become Vice
President, Operations.
Mr. Frank van de Water, currently Chief Financial Officer, will become
Vice President, Finance.
The increased responsibility assigned to these three positions will
enable Dr. Jennings to concentrate on growing the company through new
exploration ventures, and through mergers and acquisitions.
