It's a puzzlement.

So far today: LGTO sinks 20% on White downgrade following the news that competitor VRTS purchased SGT SW thereby tripling its estimated 1999 revenues. Bear ups VRTS to "buy". VRTS sinks 33% after Brown cuts rating from "buy" to "market perform" and saying that "bigger" is not "better". SGT is up on the new of its forthcoming divestiture of SGT SW.

So, what can be inferred from the above? Brown and White have a lot more clout than Bear? SGT SW unit is poison to friend and foe alike? LGTO, who could hold its own against VRTS and SGT SW before, now cannot compete with the merged VRTS plus SGT SW, even after Brown infers that the deal is not so great? It's a puzzlement!
