I think the point you make with your question is; do I think that my side is losing ground to a side I oppose and the answer right now is yes. The answer in '94 was yes. The answer in '96 was no. I voted for Clinton in '96 because I wanted a long set of issues to prevail for this country. Will the effort to skew the election in '98 work? I don't know right now and I am concerned about it. I am on the defensive right now and I don't know how much ground I'm losing and if I can make it back up or not. I fear and this is my fear; I fear that the power of Congress is so out of kilter now with the Independent Council Law that unlimited funding of one-sided investigations could continue indefinately. Gore certainly will be the next target and the same effort will be made to turn him into the next lawbreaker and criminal. What is happening is an effort to criminalize being a Democrat by the Republican Congress. Will it work? It is possible. I fear that greatly. It seems that only the majority party in Congress can mount these efforts and so as long as the Republican's control Congress, there is a real situation to deal with for the Democrats. This is unprecedented in the history of this country and it really calls into question whether our system of government can last over time. The Constitutional checks and balances are getting tossed out. That really scares me. Will the American People be capable of grasping this over time? The media is silent.
