More Banshee Impressions:

- If they could up the framerate of games in 1024x768 mode by about 33%, I'd chuck my V2 SLI setup (more slots, less heat, fewer drivers). Maybe the 25mu version will hit that goal.

- There were times last night when almost _nothing_ was working and I was sure I would sell all my stock as a result. Quantum3D did 3Dfx a _huge_ disservice by not shipping Quake2 support in their box. I would recommend that other people NOT GET A QUANTUM3D RAVEN because of this.

- The improvement in Quake2 textures is real (over my SLI setup). Here's part of a usenet post explaining the reasons:

========================
There is a rather large body of messages (300) on the topic.

I believe the general consensus among those of us who can see it is
that there is nothing that can be done about it.

If I remember correctly, 3dfx uses some special technique to blend the
dithered pixels and reduce the appearance of graininess. It does not
work with SLI at the higher resolutions and refresh rates.

I think 3dfx dithers too much to begin with. A weaker dither mask for
the 24 -> 16 bit conversion would allow for a better balance between
banding (not enough dithering) and graininess (too much dithering).
