As previously stated, I rather that people were up front about it when they do.

Certainly not, I would never ask anyone to pre-announce their intention to buy/sell. That would be "idiotic". I, also, don't have a problem with taking profit, but I would prefer that people be up front about it and say something to the effect that "Hey, folks, this thing has made a good move and I just had to take some profit" and/or "maybe I'll be back if things change" and that let's others know where you stand in regards to the stock.
I'm also willing to take your word for it that you never said you were long term and retract, in your case, the "flies and mosquitoes" remark. Okay.
