After the junk bond market shut down in 1989 with the collapse of Drexel Burnham, it took a while for it to sink in to a lot of people as well. (Others got scarred real quick.) I can guarantee you that Wall St. and Greenwich will feel the current problems come bonus /layoff time. Big time. Things will not be so robust at Sotheby's next year. Count on it. How much the main street American economy slows down, or turns to reverse, is more uncertain. Doug
