Hi Erick - With the Internet revolution and the resulting online trading, I think that all the technical rules have to be rediscovered or adapted to the new envirement. One indicator I observe constantly is the average size of a transaction as obtained by dividing the total volume by the number of trades. It does usually give me the dayly trend in the absence of information about large blocks being traded. Also important is the timing of the action. Dumb money, my own observation confirmed, is put to work early on during the trading day, not so dumb yet not so smart comes on after the luch hour (institutions). Smart money waits untill late during the day. The average size per transaction for NOVL used to be between 1K and 2K. In the last week it droped to a tid below 1K. This lends no support to the manipulation theory as put forward by some people on this board. Ghassan.
