Um Scrapps.....

It sounds so grand! But, ...the last time I looked, ZOOM was a high quality if somewhat marginal producer of what is now close to being a commodity product with soon to be declining margins.

After being caught in the cross fire of ROC/LU vs USRX/COMMS with FLEX against X2 and then ROC vs LU with different flavors of KFLEX and the minor skirmishes with BOCA DIMD and so on, management has every reason to be shell shocked. So where does the road lead looking ahead?

ZOOM is not a highly research oriented firm. It was built on Rockwell modem chipsets when that company was dominant. 1997 and 1998 should have been good years, they are lost now. At least ZOOM has shown itself to be a survivor. My guess is that they should stand by, cultivate the retail channel, and cement alliances with possible future suppliers of technology. Most of all they must do whatever it takes to be prepared when the next "hot" product category becomes apparent.

Best,

Leo

The first product transition to any or all of the things that you mention (excluding the video) will be crucial.
