Maxwell,

1) Why not stop AMD last year while they could?
They first had to determine whether AMD would gain acceptance and whether or not they were worth competing with.

2) Why not make a chip that has a smaller die than their higher end chip?
I don't know, but they probably will.

3) Why switches to socket 370?
I don't know.

4) Why didn't release 3DNOW before AMD?
Intel will have there own version of 3DNOW, KNI they wanted a base of software that will use it before they release it. Intel is working with many software developers.

5) Why didn't release the 333MHz mobile before AMD?
Good question. I don't know.

6) Why released the buggy Xeon before it is fixed?
As you know, errata is almost impossible to prevent. You can only test, discover it and fix it. Intel is the only chipmaker to openly document all errata. That establishes why the server market will never be viewed as commodity products.

7) Why not release something faster than K7 before AMD debuts the K7?

They will. My definition of debut is when it is available in large quanties for sale.

8) Why allowed AMD to capture 47% of the retail market?
Much of the lower end was not profitable for any of the players: Packard Bell, AMD, NSM etc. Intel focused on what produces profits.

Now I have a question for you. Why does Intel continually report profits while AMD and NSM continually report losses?

Dale
