Dale, thanks for the outlook re market positioning for Intel, just curious about your or anyone else's opinion on the outlook for Intel's model in the medium term. The real question may be whether it matters how far ahead Intel stays in light of the fact that maybe there is a shrinking part of the market that needs the continual upgrades. For instance, I have seen a firm where they all still use 486's except for a few people who run more complex stuff. I get by with a 185 megs machine from 2 years back. We hired a new guy and he was set up with a machine nowhere near the top of the line and if we hire another guy he won't need much more...
Maybe in a few years there will be apps that need better machines but for now, next quarter or next year seems a pretty convenient time for holding off on upgrading...unless you are designing nuclear powered ships. Seems like for most current apps, we are all set at well below 450 megs and Intel chips are getting farther ahead of needs as time goes on. Is this all wrong? Who is going to need all this hot stuff?
