Pat,

Technical analysis will work better with some stocks than others. With the technical indicators I use, such are not that accurate with biotechs and cheap stocks; hwr they have achieved very good results with Hi-Tech stocks (above $10.00, and better in the $20.00+ range).
The level of accuracy with those are in the 80-90% range, with the ability of spotting turn-arounds in the price within 10-15 days, of course certain criteria must be met. An example is ATML, very easy to chart and very accurate.

So to answer yr question, it depends on the stock. I just started charting AMTX, and feel that such indicators will have fair to good results - the verdict is still out. In case you are wondering, such indicators are showing the AMTX should reverse within 5-7 days as long as the markets acts normal.
