Of possible y2K interest: (cc: ZITL,ACLY,TSRI) SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (Dec. 27; 17:41) AP -Dec 27, 1996--Docucon, Inc. (The Nasdaq Stock Market:DOCU) today responded to a number of recent inquiries regarding novel applications its JFS Litigator's Notebook (TM) suite of software. Minor adaptation of these products, primarily directed towards the legal profession, have indicated a potential use in numeric interface transition (`year 2000' conversion). Subsequent to Docucon's recent contract with the Department of Defense (DOD), various personnel adapted the software in an attempt to expedite its use for DOD attorneys. The unexpected result appears to allow code transition under multiple platforms and has been suggested to have broad on-site use benefit for a number of federal agencies.
Ed Gistaro, Docucon's Chief Executive Officer, said, "This use of the Litigator software is a total surprise. While Docucon is pleased to be part of the year 2000 transition process, we must caution that extensive testing and validation must be conducted prior to confirmation of DOD's data. The employees of Docucon are also unfamiliar with virtually every aspect of numeric interface transition and therefore we would require extensive training and hiring if the Litigator adaptation is confirmed. We have recently completed our fourth consecutive quarter of profitable operations and we will remained focused on our core business during and subsequent to the Litigator testing process."
In addion to marketing software products for the legal profession, Docucon is a leader in high-volume conversions of paper and microform documents to optical and other types of storage devices for the federal and commercial markets.
