how many companies can you name that will double sales every year in the near term?

Look at the numbers - assume a $500 million company goes to a $1 billion in one year! Is that better than a $100 million co. going to $400 million? I don't know but I will be happy to settle for the $500 million increase.

Months ago Mory Ejabat said Ascend wouldn't keep up the former pace. Very recently their Vice President Bernie Schneider confirmed that statement but also said he was very satisfied with the propsects for the 4th quarter, without being any more specific than that.

It's hard to think of any company being equipped to handle such a torrid growth pace - few could possibly have the infrastructure in place or easily acquired and immediately effective so as to bring the same percentage results to the bottom line. Common sense (which ain't all that common) tells you otherwise.

What counts is their being on top of technological advances and finding clever ways to exploit the market they know so well. That's what the recent I-DSL strategy implies to me - but check out what TeleChoice had to say when the anouncement was made for a less biased view.

If Cisco is a reasonable model I think it can be said that a well run, innovative and gutty company can continue to expand rapidly while still producing an ever-increasing bottom line and real shareholder value. For that many are willing to pay a high multiple, be they institutions or individuals.
