I am concerned like everybody else. I made a bunch of calls today and couldn't find any negative things. I decided to call a place where this scanner was operated. I was told at this place that they scan 20 to 25 people a day which means it goes non-stop. The operator told me that hmo's are starting to come around and are paying for this procedure on a case by case basis. Also, a fair amount of people are paying for it on their own. Right now it costs about 475 but I see that coming down as the HMO's negotiate the price down. There may be some help coming in this legislation that forces HMO's to pay for services like these. The quarter ended Sept 30 and there have been some scanner sales, we will have to wait the customary 45 days to get another reading.. I would be happy with two because they are still in transition in my opinion with GE. The GE salespeople have finished their main training and are hitting the streets. These are two million dollar machines so it is a large capital expense, therefore decisions can take some time. However, they appear to get service revs every time one is sold and eventually that will be a factor. The operator who I talked to was in no way affiliated with the company so I loved it when he verified for me that there is no competing technology. He wasn't sure how well the company is managed but he assured me there was nothing wrong with the product. He was very busy so I was surprised that he gave me his home phone number so we could talk more. I'll give him a little space and then give him a call. I don't want to name the clinic that I called because I want him to speak freely. I will say it is a clinic that everone who knows anything about health care has heard of the name. I really believe at this point that there is panic selling going on here mixed with MM manipulation (who knows what their agenda is). I would be surprised if this issue doesn't head higher next week when they have the Imatron Symposium where people come from all over the country to hear about the Ultrafst scanner.
