One interesting thing about that sidebar - at least one CPQ reseller had the shortest delivery time of any of the manufacturers (assuming a week is 5 business days) and CPQ was a buck cheaper than Dell. Clearly HP and IBM are out to lunch. This is one of the few advantages of CPQ's model - volume delivery on short notice. Dell has choked recently on a couple of big short lead orders, but I assume they will try to address that (although it conflicts with their goal of low internal inventory).

Also, in the main article, if you cut through the crap, the message is that CPQ and Dell will be the final 2 in the PC desktop business. I happen to agree with that position. Maybe Dell will take #1 in desktops, they deserve it based on their current excellent execution, but CPQ is getting better. In the high end enterprise space CPQ is well positioned to clean house. That's why I'm holding both stocks.

I bought into CSCO yesterday. CSCO or LU (or maybe both) will win big on the coming bandwidth boom. Either way I'm going to have some horse to ride.

Maybe I should have sold the 27.5 CPQ I bought in June at yesterday's close, looks like market insanity may drive us a little lower, and I could maybe pick it up at 23-24... maybe I'll do that tomorrow. No guts, no glory.
