I beg to differ. Frankly the $0.01 cent profit is basically meaningless.
However Intel figured that the Mendocino at 300/333 would kill off AMD while preserving the PII 350/400/450.

AMD has turned the tabled by producing hundreds of thousands of 350's last quarter. They also announced they HAVE ALREADY started to ship 400 Mhz chips this QUARTER, without even formally anoouncing the products yet.

Now Intel is in trouble because the Celery official speeds are below K6 sweet spot of 350 Mhz and above for Q4.

They will have to scramble in Q4 IMHO.
