Tenchusatsu, I'm happy to hear that you didn't see didn't see much in terms of suffering on the street and that you're relatives haven't lost their jobs. I hope they continue to do well despite the conditions in the economy. Unfortunately, many of my friends that are graduating or just graduated have been devastated by the turmoil. SO many that had jobs secured well before grad have found themselves working from home(not) for free. All on a "we'll call you when we get busy again" basis. Others that graduate this year have also found extremely tough job prospects. >> Interestingly enough, those who are in the military (S.Korea has mandatory military service) are staying in the military longer than they need to,<< I never thought I'd see this situation arising. I've never met a Korean that stayed a second longer in the army than they had to. Well except for the guy that was in the band division, he practised and then played a lot in the officers mess hall. The situation must be dire to see an increase in service time. I hope Korea can bite the bullet and come around much quicker than Japan. There's certainly no lack of work ethic or academic quality to hold them back.
