Agreement Enables WinStar to Quickly Provide Wireless Fiber(SM) Service to DEVNET Clients
WINSTAR COMMUNICATIONS, INC. WCII announced today it has signed an agreement with DEVNET, L.L.C. to provide advanced telecommunications capabilities through its Wireless Fiber(SM) services to more than 400 office buildings served by DEVNET, a Westport, CT-based firm. DEVNET controls telecommunications access rights for major nationwide building portfolios, including Teacher's Insurance and Annuity Association of America.
"In order to remain competitive, it is essential that building owners offer their tenants a state-of-the-art communications system. As we looked into the digital future, we wanted to partner with a company that had both the vision and delivery capability to exceed the needs of our most demanding tenants. WinStar met both those goals," said Joel R. Wilson, CEO of DEVNET.
"WinStar can provide tenants with the opportunity to revolutionize the way they conduct business using our advanced communication services," said WinStar for Buildings President Richard Uhl. "DEVNET's expertise and their extensive network of relationships in the commercial real estate industry enhance our ability to bring the advantages of our service directly to the buildings and tenants that require the flexible power of our broadband network."
Nathan Kantor, WinStar's President and Chief Operating Officer, said, "I am pleased that DEVNET has joined the fast growing group of commercial building owners and telecommunications managers who recognize the value WinStar's Wireless Fiber service can bring to a building. We are confident that WinStar's broad range of voice and enhanced broadband services will soon turn a significant number of tenants in these buildings into WinStar customers."
The DEVNET portfolio consists of a number of trophy properties, other desirable locations and potential WinStar hub sites.
WinStar for Buildings works with commercial building owners and managers to install unobtrusive dish antennae - about the size of a dinner plate - on building rooftops, enabling WinStar to provide tenants with a range of state-of-the-art telecommunications services through its national broadband network. Buildings can be quickly connected to WinStar's fixed wireless network, giving tenants swift access to a wider choice of providers for local and long distance phone service, Internet, video conferencing, data applications and other advanced telecommunications and data services.
DEVNET controls the physical areas of commercial real estate dedicated to and available to telecommunications and cable television service providers. Acting on behalf of the building owners and in an economic strategic alliance with them, DEVNET strives to maximize the value of the building's assets and ensures the availability of leading edge communications services for tenants.
