Hmmm...let me see...Zip Plus list $199 100MB Zip disc $19.95

Sony external HiFi list $199 200MB Fuji HiFi disc $13.99

Zip cost $0.20/MB
HiFi cost $0.07/MB

Which would you buy? A slow, buggy 100MB Zip Plus, or the new sleek 200MB Sony HiFi?

Zip discs are almost 300% more expensive than HiFi discs on a $/MB basis. Zip discs are 42% more expensive than HiFi on an absolute basis. Besides, the specs for HiFi completely blow away Zip. And, it is floppy compatible. LS-120 might as well say their prayers. And expect a 50% drop in retail Zip drive sales by the start of March compared to now.

It appears that Teac will indeed manufacture the Internal HiFi drive. They are probably re-tooling their floppy drive equipment as we speak readying for the January 1999 delivery date.
