OK, I'm asking. You suggest $800 million in asset sales. What are the numbers? I'm a software developer, not an accountant. I re-read the 10-Q and the footnotes and don't see where they buried the asset sales. I do see an increase in Oracle's cash position of about $800 million over the same quarter last year. Is this the $800 million in question? Do we now just have to figure out where the money came from? Point me in the right direction and I'll try to dig out the details for myself. Can I assume that you paid for the database (and trust the third party) and did not reconcile this data with the source documents yourself? If that is the case, I will stop asking you where the source data is. You don't know either.

To get an idea of the magnitude of what you are suggesting, consider that Barnes and Noble just sold Bertelsmann a 50% interest in their on-line venture for $200 million. If Oracle sold $800 million in assets, I don't see how it could have gone virtually unnoticed.

I know a lot about Oracle's products and their business in general. I am far from expert in the minutia of their financial statements. That is why I am questioning the source of the data in your post. On the other hand, if you have a question about how to use their software, I will be happy to point you to the appropriate page in the right manual.
