Mike and others who may know,

Suppose you are a 20 person company that wants to put up a database driven web site. If you go with Linux and Oracle all you have to pay for is Oracle. But if you go with Microsoft you have to pay for NT, SQL Server and their related products like Visual Interdev.

Do you happen to have a rough idea which would be cheaper?

Oracle's press release points out that of the top 100 web sites most use Oracle and only 9% use Microsoft, but there are a lot more than 100 web sites out there. Why do I get the feeling that if you look at web sites other than this group of 100 you would find that most use Microsoft and they do it because of significant cost savings?
