Chief, please consider a hypothetical:

You are an exploration geologist working in Chile. You are atop Lapangue Mountain in Chile. Your job is to decide with the information presented to you if Lapangue contains a world-class copper porphyry deposit. You know that a minerlized diatreme breecia pipe is exposed at the surface and that a previous drill core to 37 meters was filled with chalcopyrite. The breecia zone appears to cover a one square kilometer area. Grap samples show copper, gold, molybedium present in nice values. IP results show strong readings in a one kilometer area at surface which increases in cross-sectional size with depth to at least 1000 meters. A total of 23 KM of lines have been run. IP suggests a connection with area at the base of the mountain some 2 kilometer away. Today, after one of your survey trucks falls off the side of the plateau, you decide to check the cliff side because something catches your eye. It appears to be a massive outcropping of carbonate rock with no obvious sign of copper weathering. You take out your bottle of HCL and it bubbles and fizzes. Suddenly, your cell phone rings, it is your boss. He wants to know then and there if there is a world class porphyry deposit here. Your job is on the line. You must say yea or no. What would you tell him, Chief?
