WorldLink to Private Label Midisoft Internet Media Player
Business Wire - October 07, 1998 06:16
ISSAQUAH, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7, 1998--Midisoft Corporation (OTC BB:MIDI) today announced that WorldLink Corporation, a leading provider of on-site live media production and hosting services, has entered into an agreement to promote a WorldLink-branded version of Midisoft's popular Internet Media Player(tm) client application.

WorldLink is a recognized expert of live and on-demand Webcasts, and specializes in the use of Microsoft Corporation's (NASDAQ: MSFT) NetShow products for production and Internet broadcasting.

Midisoft's Internet Media Player is the first standalone streaming media playback solution to take advantage of Microsoft's Windows(R) Media Technology, which is the underlying "engine" used in Microsoft own Windows Media Player. Midisoft's streaming media client application is an enhanced ASF (Advanced Streaming Format) player that compliments and extends the functionality of Microsoft's standard player with a higher degree of configurability for both private label customers such as WorldLink and end-users.

"WorldLink is committed to the Microsoft NetShow platform," said Dennis Carbajal, Marketing Director for WorldLink, "and all of our content and production is done in the ASF format. Midisoft's Internet Media Player implements the same technology used by Microsoft's player which gives us confidence in it's ability to faithfully display what we produce. But what really attracted us was the ability create brand awareness for WorldLink through the dynamic configuration capabilities of the Player."

The Internet Media Player architecture allows WorldLink to dynamically populate the user interface with its own logos, content listings, supplemental programming information, and banner advertising, features not readily offered by competing players. "With Midisoft's product, we have the ability to 'touch' our audience anytime the Player is running, not just when they are tuned into one of our broadcasts," continued Carbajal. "That capability alone allows us to extend our reach, and that of our advertisers, well beyond the confines of our web site and the programming itself."

"WorldLink is the second prominent streaming media provider to offer a private labeled version of our Internet Media Player," said Brian Allodi, General Manager of Midisoft's Strategic Products Group. Midisoft recently announced that Internet Broadcast Solutions, the parent company of Internet-only radio broadcaster KNAC based in Long Beach, CA, will also offer a branded version of the company's Player. "We are aggressively pursuing a number of streaming content developers, broadcasters, ISPs, and corporate customers who realize the enormous value and brand equity that our Player can create for them and their users," added Allodi.

WorldLink users can download a free, fully operational 30 Day Trial version of the WorldLink-branded Internet Media Player by visiting the WorldLink web site at wl.net. For a limited time the trial edition can be converted to an unrestricted version for only $12.95.
